Join the Architects League for a special member event,
featuring a private tour of
Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine,
which opened in 2023 at the World Trade Center site.
Designed by Santiago Calatrava with Koutsomitis Architects PC as the Architect of Record, it replaced the original church building that was destroyed on September 11, 2001. The recently constructed church boasts floors and exteriors crafted from the same Pentelic marble vein that graced Greece’s iconic Parthenon. Its distinctive dome, adorned with a translucent stone rainscreen, houses an impressive array of 40 skylights that illuminate the interior. Following the private tour of Saint Nicholas led by Nicholas P. Koutsomitis AIA, Principal of Koutsomitis Architects PC, we will get an overview of the World Trade Center site,
led by ALNNJ member Joe David,
who leads our annual Kessler tours.
Transportation to and from the site is included.
Schedule:
10am – Meet in Tenafly, New Jersey
10:30am – Bus departs for New York
12pm – Tour of St Nicholas begins
3pm – Explore the site and enjoy lunch on your own
5pm – Bus departs for New Jersey
Tickets are $45 per person
available for ALNNJ members and guests.
Tickets are limited and subject to availability.
The meeting location in Tenafly will be provided to attendees via email. Restrooms and free parking are available at the bus departure meeting location. Lunch is on your own and not included.
This tour takes place rain or shine, and members who attend
will receive 3.0 HSW Learning Units.
